Volunteers from Cheshire Search and Rescue have set out for Greece today to help look for the missing marathon-runner John Lawton.
Experienced endurance athlete John Lawton, 62, from Alsager, disappeared during an off-road race near the village of Kardamili in southern Greece on April 8.
Mrs Lawton raised the alarm when her husband failed to cross the finishing line in the Taygetos Challenge.
Rescue teams searched for days before winding down last week. Refusing to give up his wife Lynda and son Steve returned home to gather some support and raise funds to head back out there.
The team from Cheshire have had to use some of their own money to fund the trip.
