Police in Anchorage are looking for a missing 18-year-old woman last seen working as a barista at a drive-through coffee stand Wednesday night.

NBC affiliate KTUU reports that APD spokesperson Lt. Dave Parker says Samantha Koenig was working at Common Grounds Espresso when she was last seen at 8 p.m. Authorities say her shift ended at that time, but she was not there when her boyfriend came to pick her up.

Law enforcement officials are looking at the surveillance video from the coffee stand and possibly a nearby business. At this time, there is no evidence of foul play, police say.

Samantha Koenig's father, James Koenig, said he believes his daughter was taken from her place of work. He says everything seemed to be normal with his daughter, and that he had spoken to her earlier that evening. It is not like her to take off, he said.

"At this time we're contacting her friends, family, all the people that know her, trying to find out if anyone saw her, if anyone heard from her," says Sgt. Slawomir Markiewicz.

Alaska court records show Koenig filed for a protective order against a man in November, but she did not appear in court and the order was never issued.

Samantha Koenig is 5 feet 4 inches tall, 160 pounds and has brown hair and brown eyes.

Anyone with information on Koenig's whereabouts is asked to call APD at 907-786-8900.

Samantha disappeared on lst February 2012 and I have put an alert out for her here on the blogger. I am hoping to get some Tarot reports out for some of the Missing alerts and below is a reading for Samantha. Please remember to read Tarots important message so that you understand how Tarot picks things up .

Tarot is past present and future and gives us 'glimpses' of the situation which I hope will hold some value even in part as to assist Samantha in some way. As Tarot must be defined as 'for entertainment only' by law I have to ask you to not consider tarot as FACT but to go to other sources for actual information.



When I write Tarot I have to put down what I get personally. How it figures in the overall picture I have no idea but you can see my first card for this young lady is the four of pentacles reversed. There may be a G name here. What I am getting is someone looking for work? seems like someone has either lost their job, left their job or quit?

I am seeing that there is a lack of money here and seems to me that someone needs to get more money. So either the above applies or she had to go to the Bank and get some money out. I am seeing her going towards the town or being in the town. I feel as though she has been robbed or something has been taken off her and of course this is pentacles which is money and possessions? So thats what Tarot is alerting me too.

There is also someone here maybe up to the age of 32 who may have seemed friendly on the surface of it but they are not. They could be ethnic meaning that they are mixed race. It does seem that way but could still be white. I feel as though this person has been very forceful.


I am seeing her isolated and on her own and I have a rural type of landscape here and possibly a property which could be a business property. The property may be closed or abandoned as Im not feeling it is open? if thats the word. There is someone who would be described as a very twisted type of businessman or at least someone who has some kind of bad vibe, I actually am seeing an old and vicious man.

So not sure if its just to do with a younger person or not. Anyway I will just mention that. Im seeing corruption and jealousy in these cards and obviously a threat to health with the pentacles reversed. It seems to me that there should have been an operative camera but Im not sure if anything was caught on CCTV. This seems to be all about money work and business.

I feel someone might have been bribed here or easily led so the overall situation is not looking good. Is there a ransom in this case? or has anybody asked for a ransom for this girl?

Pentacles are North in direction so thats what I would get first of all even in name of street or as the direction itself but there is a connection South here too again name of direction or street. There might have been reason to have 'watched her' during the third week of January so it makes you wonder whether this is something that has been thought about in advance? its possible.

I am seeing a wall and garden and taken away from family and isolated. There may be water in the vicinity but I see initially a moving away from that. Its possible a basement is in the picture. Names of flowers? and something red. Lets just move to the next card for the moment to look at location thoughts from Tarot.



Samantha was stalked and somebody owned a car likely four door and possibly red. I am seeing this oddly as somehow connected to someone she might have known BUT was not blood related?
I feel that there is or was some kind of family interference here I dont know the backstory at the moment but wonder if there is someone loosely connected to family here. There may just be three people I see? Not sure of the connection. A possible Junction or 'union'?

I am seeing all this in these cards as a picture to me. I feel as though with the Strength reversed like that that respiration might be affected in some way . Strength is giving rurality and some kind of landscape that ties in with a stream or river. I am not sure of the direction but there is a Lion in this card and I am seeing animal or animals. Principally there is a Lion in this card and the Number 8 seems to be important.


There is an old man or an older man who might have grey hair and a beard. I am seeing somewhere near a hill perhaps she has been hidden and concealed by this person. I dont know but sometimes I think there is a sexual deviant linked to the Hermit but at the same time I dont think that is the most prominent occurrence or happening.

I might be wrong but not sure that is the reason behind this persons mind or actions. I just feel that they would have her hidden. Holes come into view with this card I seem to feel as though its dark? sometimes mobiles and caravans can appear here but it could be that they are just nearby?

I am linking her with a vehicle and being in it. I dont know the 'time' scale whether its past or present or even future just that I see it. I see this car off the road. There is bad fate attached to the vehicle so it must be stationary. There might even be a 'mountain' in view. Im seeing something in the mouth or to do with the mouth - maybe dental? something yellow and to do with Taste? I am sensing snake like personality? or something to do with 'snake'?

I am seeing aggressiveness and intolerence here. Is someone jealous? who is this person , a third person? Jealous and nasty?
I am being connected to Roses and something WHITE. A very aggressive person cant be pacified here.


There is something about a Tuesday so what happened then, because it is significant. Someone seeking revenge isnt it? well this is the wrong way to do this. I also have something about 'traffic lights'. There is a lot of fear of this person maybe someone she would have avoided if possible. She is concealed and hidden and disguised. She may be wearing a mask or someone did or wore something over their face? at some point perhaps.

I have the word paranoid. Im getting 'she would'nt listen'? Justice is down so somebody was not happy about something that was to do with law? might have decided to do something about it.
I think shes left on her own .

Im seeing something about a roof or under a roof?

There may be a small connection to drinking eating or perhaps drugs. Possibly the name Michael but that is very rare even though it can show. Is someone around the family difficult with her?




Im seeing someone possibly with a limp in fact there are three people that I do see here and I have been given NORTH and the number 5 as help to find Samantha also that she could be found within 5. Normally pentacles are years but the 5 might just be coming out on its own. It might route 5? or just a 5 for distance. I see just outside of town somewhere and rural. I also see a park somewhere in the vicinity or in the surroundings, an arch and a bridge or one or the other. I see buildings but not up close though a movement more to North East I think.

I am sensing a possible money exchange so again, is there a ransom? Someones waiting to collect cash? There might be a church name or some kind of place that is a kind of retreat. That might mean a kind of hideout or it could be suggesting somewhere near a large building could be warehouse or some work building or again it might have those church reference/santuary type references. Its not a churchyard that I can see.

I think someone is trying to make money?
So number 5 may help with when Samantha might be found. Ultimately I am being given an EIGHT so eight is the prominent number as to where she is which brings us back to the Strength card and I feel Roses/Lion/animals landscape, stream/ something dental - dentist or oral being here that could mean speaking or asking for something - somewhere near a Hill or Hill in name, possible offside the road place. Colour white or white fabric or even Garland.

Hopefully something here will help Samantha. Tarot is not 100 per cent accurate but I give all I can in this brief overview hoping something will stand out to help her. I am very sorry that Samanthas family have been put to so much worry. Fingers crossed something gives soon. Add to the $70,000 or so reward fund to help find missing barista Samantha Koenig one strip club business that could be worth as much as $250,000, courtesy of Terry Stahlman.

That's right, Stahlman, felon, recovering drug addict, fading strip club kingpin and occasional street philanthropist, would like to make this his largest public gift yet. He's retiring, so it's kind of a finale.

He called me last week to tell me about it. His idea: give The Showboat Showclub in Anchorage to anybody who provides police with the information they need to find Koenig, whether she is dead or alive, he said. The tipster has 10 business days from today.

"I want to do something real grandiose," he said. "Get this thing some attention."

The Showboat, housed in a fluorescent green and blue building on Fifth Avenue, is home to six or seven strippers, some as young as 18, who rent the privilege of stripping to their underwear on the premises. Cokes and energy drinks are on offer for $10 to $15 apiece.

But those in Bird's corner -- including a man who described himself as Samantha Koenig's step-brother, Michael Pedersen -- have not remained silent about what they say are Koenig's past indiscretions, taking to Facebook and talking to reporters about what they say her life was really like.

For one thing, Pedersen said, Koenig told him she made up everything in the protective order filing, and he had heard she had problems with her dad and her boyfriend.

Here is the latest news report. A man is arrested. There are many posts on my forum and it seems various validations but I think it is important for Samantha to be found and once this case is resolved I will print the relevant validations that have surfaced.

Texas Arrest Made in Samantha Koenig Case

ANCHORAGE, Alaska—

Anchorage police say a "person of interest" has been arrested in Texas in the case of a local barista who has been missing since February.Israel Keyes, 34, was arrested Tuesday in Lufkin, Texas by local law enforcement in Lufkin and the Texas Rangers, as part of a joint effort with APD and the FBI in connection with the abduction of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig.

APD says it's had two detectives working the case in Texas for the last few days, and the arrest was announced at APD headquarters Thursday afternoon in a joint press conference by APD and the FBI. Few additional details were released about the investigation Thursday, but police did say Keyes was staying at a Turnagain house at 2456 Spurr Ln. that was visited by APD's Major Crime Scene unit Tuesday night.
Keyes is being held in a federal facility in Beaumont, Texas on unspecified charges.
"The federal arrest warrant was sealed; therefore, details related to his charges will not be released at this time," APD spokesperson Anita Shell wrote in a press release.

Court documents filed in Texas show that Keyes was charged with access device fraud, a typical crime involved in identity theft related to the use of another person's credit or debit cards. U.S. attorneys also ask in the documents that Keyes be held without bail, because of both escape risk and "a serious risk that the defendant will obstruct or attempt to obstruct justice, or threaten, injure, or intimidate or attempt to threaten, injure or intimidate, a prospective witness or juror."

Federal agents tonight seized a shed from the Turnagain home of Israel Keyes, the man police linked to the abduction of Samantha Koenig.

Keyes, 34, is a self-employed carpenter who police say was directly involved in Koenig's disappearance Feb. 1. He was arrested in Texas for ATM fraud March 13 and caught with a stolen debit card and rolls of money, according to an FBI agent's affidavit. Police searched Keyes' home on Spurr Lane in Turnagain the day he was arrested.

Police, the FBI and the U.S. Attorney's Office have refused to say how Keyes is connected to Koenig's abduction. She remains missing.

Keyes pleaded not guilty Tuesday to one count of access device fraud.

A man participating in the Friday night seizure at Spurr Lane, a dead-end street off of Clay Products Drive near West Northern Lights Boulevard, confirmed the dozen or so plainclothes men and women there were with the FBI. He declined to comment further, and the FBI personnel did not respond to questions.

Neighbors said about 10 p.m. a flatbed truck pulled in front of the house. Men unloaded a forklift from the back of the truck and went to work shoveling snow off what looked to be a roughly 6-foot by 8-foot metal shed with green trim.

Later, reporters watched as a forklift operator picked up the shed and backed slowly out of the short driveway while four men held the shed steady. At one point, a woman inside the house where police say Keyes lived poked her head out to quiet a barking dog. Lights were on in the blue house and blinds covered all its windows.

The forklift operator carefully loaded the shed on the truck, and after blocking the base and strapping it down, the truck backed out of Spurr Lane and drove to the FBI's headquarters in downtown Anchorage.

FBI spokesman Eric Gonzalez would not say if the shed was related to either the investigation of Keyes' alleged debit card fraud or the investigation of Koenig's disappearance.

"We're still investigating," Gonzalez said.

A law enforcement dive team on Monday discovered what they believe to be the body of Samantha Koenig -- the 18-year-old abducted from a Midtown Anchorage coffee stand on Feb. 1, Anchorage Police Chief Mark Mew said

The body was found in Matanuska Lake, Mew said. An autopsy is being conducted, which will confirm the identity, he said.

"Investigators believe Samantha died within hours of her abduction, and we are continuing to investigate these facts," Mew said, reading from a written statement to a crowd of reporters outside police headquarters. He said police believe the person responsible is in custody and that the person acted alone.

Police and the FBI have been jointly investigating the abduction. Mew said that police are working with the U.S. Attorney's Office and that murder charges will be filed.

Neither Mew nor Mary Rook, FBI special agent in charge of the Anchorage division, would answer questions, each sticking to carefully worded written statements.

While police didn't name the person in custody, last month authorities arrested Israel Keyes, a 34-year-old self-employed carpenter, on a federal charge of making unauthorized ATM withdrawals and said he was directly tied to Koenig's disappearance.

According to an FBI agent's affidavit, Keyes used a card reportedly stolen hours after Koenig vanished to steal more than $2,400 from an unnamed man's bank account in several transactions in Anchorage and the Lower 48. He was caught in Texas on March 13 with the stolen card and rolls of cash, the affidavit says.

Rook told reporters the case was especially challenging because there appears to be no known connection between the abductor, Koenig, and any member of her family.

Everyone wanted to know "why Samantha?" Rook said. "I believe it was largely the dissociative nature of this crime that so perplexed investigators, at least initially."

Investigators received hundreds of calls from people in Anchorage and the Lower 48 trying to help solve the case. Local, state and federal authorities in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas all moved fast to help the investigation, she said.

"In fact, were it not for the efforts of several very alert and dedicated Texas law enforcement officers, Samantha's abductor may still be at large," Rook said.

With police searching for evidence on the ice of a lake in the Matanuska-Susitna Borough, Anchorage police and the FBI have called a news conference for 6:30 p.m. Monday to discuss developments in the case of Samantha Koenig, the 18-year-old abducted two months ago from a Midtown coffee shack.

It was not immediately clear what the developments are.

A number of police investigators could be seen on the frozen surface of Matanuska Lake, near the intersection of the Glenn and Parks highways, on Monday afternoon.

Steven Hebbe, deputy chief of operations with Anchorage police, said the department and FBI were at the lake "following active leads in the Samantha Koenig case. They are now conducting a search for evidence in the lake."

The personnel at the lake includes divers, he said.

Anchorage police issued this statement late in the afternoon:

"There will be a joint press conference with the Anchorage Office of the Federal Bureau of Investigations and the Anchorage Police Department regarding new developments in the Samantha Koenig investigation. A short statement will be made but no questions will be entertained."

On Feb. 1, Koenig was working at Common Grounds Espresso in the parking lot of the Alaska Club at 630 E. Tudor Road, police said. Video surveillance shows a man holding a weapon walk up to the coffee hut just before 8 p.m. Police refused to describe the weapon or release any images from the video. The abductor obscured the camera's view somehow, caused Koenig to appear frightened, and forced her to leave with him on foot. They walked to the west, police said.

The surveillance video contains the last known images of Koenig. Nobody has reported seeing her since.

Last month, police named Israel Keyes, a 34-year-old self-employed carpenter, as a "person of interest" in Koenig's abduction.

According to an FBI agent's affidavit, Keyes used a card reportedly stolen hours after Koenig vanished to steal more than $2,400 from an unnamed man's bank account in several transactions in Anchorage and the Lower 48. He was caught in Texas on March 13 with the stolen card and rolls of cash, the affidavit says

Israel Keyes, previously described as “the main player” in Samantha Koenig’s abduction, is now facing federal charges of kidnapping resulting in the 18-year-old barista's death.
Charging documents filed Wednesday in U.S. District Court in Anchorage also list a count of receipt and possession of ransom money against Keyes, 34, as well as an existing count of access device fraud.
According to the documents, Keyes allegedly abducted Koenig from Midtown coffee stand Common Grounds Espresso -- an event APD said was seen by surveillance cameras -- and forced her into a white Chevrolet pickup truck parked in the nearby Home Depot parking lot at on the night of Feb. 1. He also allegedly took a debit card from a vehicle Koenig shared that was parked near her residence, forcing her to give him the card’s PIN which he scratched into the card.
The documents say Keyes killed Koenig on Feb. 2, then boarded a commercial airline flight from Anchorage to Houston, Texas and subsequently returned to Anchorage. On Feb. 24, Keyes allegedly used Koenig's cell phone to demand that ransom payments for her return be deposited to the debit card.
At Wednesday's announcement of the charges, federal officials say money from the reward funds to find Koenig was used to make ransom payments, which Keyes received by making several withdrawals from the debit card's account totaling $2,440 at several locations in Alaska, Arizona, New Mexico and Texas. Keyes was arrested in March in Lufkin, Texas on the access-device fraud charge.

A self-employed Anchorage carpenter police linked to the abduction of 18-year-old Samantha Koenig is now charged in her disappearance and slaying, according to a grand jury indictment.

The indictment charges Israel Keyes, 34, with kidnapping and killing Koenig, receiving ransom money and using a stolen debit card to pilfer a bank account. The charges -- punishable by life in prison or death if he's found guilty in federal court -- come 11 weeks to the day since Koenig was abducted from the Midtown coffee hut where she worked.

Keyes forced Koenig out of the coffee stand about 8 p.m. on Feb. 1 and walked her to his pickup parked across Tudor Road at a Home Depot, the indictment says. He stole a debit card from a vehicle Koenig shared with someone else and sent text messages using her phone that were intended to conceal her abduction, the indictment says.

Keyes forced Koenig to give him the card's personal access number and scratched the number onto the card, the indictment says. He killed her on Feb. 2, then flew to Houston, Texas, the indictment says.

Federal authorities and Anchorage police announced the charges against Keyes on Wednesday, shortly after the indictment was filed in U.S. District Court. The court papers answer many questions lingering since Koenig vanished, but key details remain unknown.

"First of all, our sympathies go out to Samantha's family," said Assistant U.S. Attorney Kevin Feldis. "It's important to her family and the community that justice will be done in this case. And now there's a judicial process under way."

"We hoped to see her return safely, but this did not happen," Police Chief Mark Mew said. "You have my promise to leave no stone unturned in making sure that the person responsible for Samantha's death be held accountable."

Police reported Koenig missing the day she died. Divers would later find her body in Matanuska Lake, north of Anchorage, but it is still unclear how they located her. After viewing surveillance video from the coffee stand, owned by Common Grounds Espresso, detectives upgraded the case to an abduction.

The video showed an armed man force Koenig from the Midtown coffee hut where she was closing up shop for the night, police said. The man was "significantly taller" than the 5-foot-5 Koenig, who appeared frightened in the video, a detective said. Keyes stands 6 feet, 2 inches tall, according to court documents. The investigators refused to release the video.

In the midst of the early abduction investigation, more than a foot of snow fell on Anchorage and the coffee hut remained open for business. Volunteers fanned out across the city and other parts of Alaska with fliers emblazoned with "KIDNAPPED" across the top.

In the weeks that followed, a reward fund for information on Koenig's whereabouts swelled to about $70,000.

Keyes flew back to Anchorage on Feb. 17, according to the indictment. The court papers say he sent a text message from Koenig's phone a week later to demand ransom money, asking that it be deposited in the bank account he could access with the stolen debit card. Keyes made two withdrawals from the account in Anchorage, then flew to Las Vegas on March 6 and began making withdrawals from the account in Arizona, New Mexico and Texas over the next several days, according to the indictment.

While Keyes' run through the Lower 48 continued, few new details about the investigation emerged in public. Police said an unprecedented number of detectives and police officers were involved in the investigation, which they asserted was making good progress daily. A detective supervisor working on the case said, at one point, that he had reason to believe Koenig was still alive.

Then, six weeks after Koenig vanished, authorities in Lufkin, Texas arrested a man that Anchorage police linked to the case: Keyes.

According to a charging document, Keyes had the debit card on him and there were rolls of cash in his car, along with a disguise used in the withdrawals. The same day in Anchorage, police arrived at his West Anchorage home with search warrants. Neighbors said officers came and went from the blue Spurr Lane house, owned by Keyes' girlfriend, and seized his white pickup.

The neighbors said Keyes and his girlfriend were quiet and polite. A man who paid Keyes -- the owner and lone employee of Keyes Construction -- to build an apartment called Keyes "as honest as the day is long."

Police later said Keyes was connected to Koenig's disappearance but refused to say for weeks what role he played in the apparent abduction.

Keyes was first charged in federal court with access device fraud and pleaded not guilty. Answering questions about his finances at his first court appearance, Keyes said he was broke and in debt. He also said he had a 10-year-old daughter.

A charging document revealed that Keyes had used the stolen debit card to steal about $2,400 from the bank account of an unnamed man. Koenig's father said the card was not his and, in a separate interview, said that his daughter shared a pickup with her boyfriend.

On March 31, federal agents descended on Keyes' home, this time to seize a tool shed from the driveway. The shed was loaded on a flatbed truck and driven to the FBI's Anchorage headquarters.

FBI divers found Koenig's body in Matanuska Lake on April 2, police said. The grim discovery came after two months of searching for Koenig and pleas from her family and friends for help finding her.

Feldis, the federal prosecutor, would not say how the divers were able to locate Koenig's body, nor would he say precisely how she died or whose debit card Keyes had stolen.

A decision to seek the death penalty for Keyes is up to the U.S. Attorney General, Feldis said.

Keyes is charged with kidnapping resulting in death, receiving and possessing ransom money and fraud with an access device. He is scheduled to make an appearance in Anchorage federal court and enter a plea on the charges Thursday morning, Feldis said.

A memorial for Koenig is scheduled for Sunday.

Koenig's father, James, declined to comment on the charges announced Wednesday.

"The investigation into Israel Keyes and his criminal activities continues," Chief Mew said.

Israel Keyes, the serial killer linked to eight murders, strangled his final victim and left then left her body in his shed in Alaska for two weeks while he went on a cruise in the Gulf of Mexico.

Keyes' vacation is only the latest horrific detail to emerge in the killing of Samantha Koenig, 18, who was abducted from her Anchorage coffee stand in February.

Federal authorities revealed on Wednesday that after his cruise, Keyes returned home to stage a ransom note with Miss Koenig's dead body and then dismembered her remains and dumped them in a lake.

Keyes, 34, committed suicide in his Anchorage jail cell on Sunday while he awaited federal trial for Koenig's murder.

Though areas were discussed, I did mention the area where Israel Keyes lived which seems rather Ironic now. There were many correct connections which seemed to throw up past connections to a boyfriend regarding Same named 'Bird'. Tarot does do that and it can confuse the issue but it did highlight a past relationship. It also gave us Roses yellow and gold which likely could have been linking to Texas. The three people could have been Bill and Lorraine Currier as Bill was left in a Basement.   The work/business area and feeling alone was linked to Sam being on her own in Keyes shed. Tarot's description of him  including his initial was all there. Old and vicious man statement was likely trying to show us that he had done this before - 

I had confusions about Sam and the direction she went and felt she must have been moved which was the case.  There were many pointers including the Ransom which reading the latest report is just so terrible what occurred to Sam.  Tarot really tries very hard to tell us things but can pick up other people connected but I do think overall there were many links in Tarot that revealed things that were later validated.

Sam, a beautiful girl was destroyed by a man who later destroyed himself.  This is a very sad case and the family have suffered greatly.

I hope to try to prioritise locations and hone them down more as time goes on.  I did get emails later from a searcher who knew the area at the lake where sam was found and was given confirmations of Tarot's descriptions. The emails were not to be printed but the person knows who they are and so do I and it was astonishing how much 'fit' in the information I was given to what I was later told.

There are a few forum posts below. It is true to say that many areas were discussed but Keyes home was most certainly picked out which is Ironic.  

RIP to Sam who did not deserve this.
