The body of a woman who had been missing since Feb. 9 was found inside her vehicle in an Orange County retention pond Monday, investigators said.
According to investigators, a member of the security team at the Royal Pacific Resort at Universal Studios Orlando noticed bushes in a rear parking lot behind the hotel had been disturbed.
Investigators said the man said he then saw a Toyota hubcap floating on the water.
The Sheriff's Office Marine Unit and dive team found the car in the pond with Carline Brumaire-Jean's body inside.
Members of Brumaire-Jean's family said she was new to driving and they had begged the sheriff's office to search the area where her body was found.
Channel 9 has learned some community leaders are asking whether deputies did enough to look for the woman.
Members of the central Florida Haitian community called out the Orange County Sheriff's Office and Universal Studios for what they called a delayed response in the search.
"Coming from work and you, for whatever reason, ended up in the lake of your employer and nobody is looking for you. We find that very odd," said Jacky Chery.
Brumaire-Jean, 39, was reported missing after she failed to return home following her shift at the Royal Pacific Resort.
