A missing Madison teen's body has been identified. Abigail Bonner's body was found yesterday near Madison Avenue and Rice Road. The 17-year-old was reported missing nearly two weeks ago from her home in the Belle Rose subdivision.
A Madison police officer is still guarding the home of Abigail Bonner's family. We were not able to talk with her parents, but a family member who created the Facebook page called Looking for Abigail released the statement "We are stunned, heartbroken and grieving."
Investigators found the 17-year-old's body Tuesday night in a wooded area about a mile away from her home.
"We received information of an odor. We sent an investigator to search for the odor and at the same time located the body," recalls the Madison Police Chief.
Gene Waldrop says they are not ruling anything out. But, they want to find out how Abigail died.
"There is no indication from the scene that there was a struggle or a placement of her," explains Waldrop.
Abigail was reported missing on August 3rd. She was first considered to be a missing person, then a runaway, and now it is a death investigation.
"At this point we don't want to speculate on what occurred or how it occurred. We're waiting on scientific evidence," adds Waldrop.
The Madison County Coroner tells News Channel 12 it could take weeks or a month to get the results of the autopsy.http://www.wjtv.com/story/23136252/body-identified-as-abigail-grace-bonner
