3/11/2013: AMBER ALERT!!!!! Arkansas State Police issued an Amber Alert for 14-year-old Sidney Nicole Randall after the main suspect in her disappearance was found dead Monday afternoon. NOTE: Some media outlets are reporting the gunshot wound was self-inflicted. Verify: http://www.missingkids.com/
According to the Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, the girl's stepdad, John Cornell, was found dead on a farm road just outside of Walnut Ridge.
The sheriff's department said Cornell was in the red Ford Ranger they had been searching for since Randell disappeared around 10 p.m. Saturday. He died as a result of a gunshot wound. Police would not say whether the wound was self-inflicted because the investigation is ongoing.
Police say they were searching for Cornell so that they could question him in connection with his stepdaughter's disappearance.
The 14-year-old was last seen wearing a brown Aeropostle jacket. She is about 5'4'' and weighs about 85 pounds. Randell has brown hair, that goes just past her shoulders, and green eyes.
